Food for Scotland Project 2021 Report

During the pandemic we have seen great growth and demand for this service.

2021 was our busiest year with over 18,035 plant based meals cooked and delivered.

In South Lanarkshire we delivered to homes of those self-isolating, elderly, vulnerable and unable to access services, low-income families and individuals, frontline workers and anyone else in difficulty.

During the first quarter of the year, we delivered food to the following organisations in Glasgow: B.J.O Amara Associations, Go Dharmic Glasgow and North Glasgow Community Food Initiative that needed help in serving various vulnerable communities in Glasgow to meet their demands for hot food. We helped the community organisations by delivering them meals so they could distribute it to their immediate neighbours and people who were in need.

Our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude goes out to our volunteers, local sponsors and kitchen team for their hard work and dedication to our cause.

In this article we have included some of the wonderful feedback we have received from the local community.

“I received your brochure a week ago and your cause seemed like it could help my family and I greatly. Your service has most certainly relieved pressure in our situation and we can’t thank you enough for thinking of others especially during this time. We encourage you to keep up the fantastic effort and service you’re providing, as I am sure many other families are appreciative of your work.” Judith

“The meal was for my mother who is shielding 83 she really enjoyed it thanks a lot” Irene

Food for Scotland was set up in 2018 and since then we have served over 40,000 hot plant based meals to anyone in need.

We have three core values that help to guide us.

1) feeding and helping the needy

2) promoting healthy and sustainable diets

3) taking care of the environment.

As we emerge from the pandemic, we will continue to provide hot plant based meals to our community. Additionally we will be expanding this service to anyone who is facing difficulty in providing food for themselves.

In order to meet this demand we solely rely on the generosity and graciousness of donations and sponsors.
